8. John Zerby, son of Jacob Zerbe and Elizabeth Hamen or Hamm, was born on 25 Oct 1808 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and died in Mar 1887 in Whitehall, Greene County, IL, at age 78.

John lived for twenty years or more in Allensville, Mifflin County, PA, where he was engaged in wool manufacturing. ( Vallentine)

He then migrated to near Corcord, Morgan County, Illinois with his family of eight children sometime around1852. Later one of his sons went further west. (1962 letter from Yance A. Zerby to Paul Zerby)

1880 Census for Morgan County, IL shows that John was a retired merchant and was living with a nephew, George W. Rentschler. George was the son of John's sister, Catherine.

John married Elizabeth Hamilton on 6 Mar 1871. Elizabeth was born about 1809 and died about 1879 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL, about age 70.

Children from this marriage were:

4         i.  Lewis E. Zerby ² (born on 19 Aug 1836 in Allenville, Mifflin Co., PA - died on 10 Sep 1864 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL). Lewis married Elizabeth Beeley, daughter of John Beeley and Dorothy, on 22 Jul 1860 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL.⁵ Elizabeth was born on 16 Apr 1839 in Dover, England (Sheffield, York) and died on 26 May 1916 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL, at age 77.

Noted events in his life were:

• Fact 1: Middle Name Probaly "Elias." ⁶ This is based on an incomplete entry made in "Blue Book of Schuykill County, PA."

• Census: ⁷ Lewis Zerby, Age 14 years, born in PA listed in household of John and Rachel Zerby.

• Census: ⁸ Lewis Zerby, age 22 years, born in PA, listed in household of John and Rachel Zerby.

• Marriage fact: ⁹ Lewis had died prior to 1870 and his widow had remarried to his brother , (apparently half brother), Adam H. Zerby. In 1870 Lweis; three children were listed in the household of Adam and Elizabeth Zerby.

• Probate: #2278 probate for Lewis and William Zerby. ¹⁰ Had a brother, William M; his father was John Zerby.
- left widow Elizabeth and children: Lorenzo L. and Horace G. Zerby.

         ii.  William M. Zerby was born on 26 Oct 1828 in Allenville, Mifflin Co., PA and died on 11 Jul 1864, at age 35.

        iii.  Matilda Mary Zerby was born in 1830 in Allenville, Mifflin Co., PA. Matilda married Edwarf Berennan on 15 Jul 1855.

         iv.  Jacob Zerby was born on 7 Apr 1832 in Allenville, Mifflin Co., PA and died on 21 Nov 1893, at age 61. Jacob married Catherine Webb.

          v.  Ellenora Zerby was born in 1834.

9. Elizabeth Hamilton was born about 1809 and died about 1879 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL, about age 70.

Elizabeth married John Zerby, son of Jacob Zerbe and Elizabeth Hamen or Hamm, on 6 Mar 1871. John was born on 25 Oct 1808 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and died in Mar 1887 in Whitehall, Greene County, IL, at age 78.

10. John Beeley .

John married Dorothy.

5         i.  Elizabeth Beeley (born on 16 Apr 1839 in Dover, England (Sheffield, York) - died on 26 May 1916 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL). Elizabeth married Lewis E. Zerby,² son of John Zerby and Elizabeth Hamilton, on 22 Jul 1860 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL.⁵ Lewis was born on 19 Aug 1836 in Allenville, Mifflin Co., PA and died on 10 Sep 1864 in Concord, Morgan Co., IL, at age 28.

11. Dorothy .

Dorothy married John Beeley.

12. Francis Brandom, son of John Francis Brandom and Mary Asher, was born in 1788.

Francis moved from Culpeper to Mason County, West Virginia between 1820 and 1830. Later he moved to Missouri, settling in Carroll County.

Francis married Elizabeth ? in 1808.

Children from this marriage were:

6         i.  Thomas Brandom (born on 6 Jan 1809 in West Virginia - died on 11 Jan 1872, buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Carolton, Mo.). Thomas married Nancy Martin Hannan in 1839. Nancy was born from 26 Dec 1821 to 1822 in West Virginia and died on 14 Feb 1899, at age 77.

Elizabeth married Francis Brandom, son of John Francis Brandom and Mary Asher, in 1808. Francis was born in 1788.
