Monday

11:00 P.M.

My own dear Sweetheart:

I have had it all alone today. Burrel and Jo and Bucy went out to Meegan's. Burrel said he got 7 birds, Bucy 2 and Mr. Meegan 4. I have been kept fairly busy. Just finished writing the remittance. It has been warm today but it looks as if a change in weather was on the way. However I have been thinking that for sometime. Sure do want some moisture.

Certainly enjoyed your fine letter. Glad to get the poetry. It sure fits the case. That fellow was a married man. I miss your letters but I realize that you can't spend all your time writing to me but the letters are eagerly looked forward to.

Glad you are going to get your “Built in” and that he is going to paint the wall. It sure did need it. Prof. Smith wanted to know address. Said he was going to drop Donald a line and tell him flowers were following if the game Saturday resulted fatally for him. Sure was a surprised bunch up here. I had O. U. coached into them so strong they were afraid to open up. However they are now going strong.

Did you get Maxine a coat over at Oklahoma City? Does she like it real well? I am enclosing a duplicate deposit slip for $25.00 to cover cost of her coat and help on your fur for your coat. Also please notice that I have placed the $50.00 I borrowed from your account back into said a/c as per enclosed duplicate. I thank you for the loan even though – well never mind. Glad I am able to do it.

By the way I had not missed the envelope. In fact had forgotten about it but I have now looked for it and do not find it. Did you take it? If not I have dropped them around the house but I do not find them laying around. I purchased them for you. Hope you have them.

McMillan left yesterday morning for Norman or rather Oklahoma City. You have no doubt seen him by now.

Your neighbor had better be careful, hadn't she. She might pass away. They both must be too mean to live close to anyone. However I guess you had better pen the chicken. She might turn you in and then it will cost a fine as they no doubt have a law keeping chickens up down there. That outfit must be crazy – leave them alone.

Bonnie wants me to get a box of chickens off to Ethyl in the morning. I guess I can make it. We have an agent now. A new one came in today. It seems like there may be a shortage but I don't hardly think so. It may show up right now on account of Lawrence not having time to put it back.

Well how did you make it with the Patron Club? Did you attend or just send your cake?

I hope the colds are getting better. Buy some Bromo Quinine ( patent medicine sold as Bromo Quinine Cold Tablets; made by E. W. Grove Laboratories, St. Louis, Missouri ) and take plenty of it. So warm today I let fire go out and have sneezed several times tonight. Hope I don't get one. We are getting milk from Mrs. Bardin – quart each day at night.

Bonnie got supper tonight on the Electric Hot Plate. She boiled potatoes. What do you know about that – you and I couldn't hardly get the skillet hot. I guess we didn't wait long enough.

Sure wish you were going to lay your dear head on little pillow tonight. I sleep on it every night. Hug it up to my cheek, wishing it was your dear bosom.

Goodnight dear heart. It is now 11:45. I am going home to an empty room.

“What good is freedom in silence like this?

When she's away all life's comforts I miss,

For nothing remains .”

Yes it is a good poem.

Tell my dear baby girl she had better write me a few lines. Just tell her to write me just a line, saying only Dear Daddy or something. She doesn't have to write me a long letter.

Love to all from

Daddy
