Manhattan Kansas

Oct. 20, 1927

Dear Dear Ora:

We arrived here this morning about 7:00 A.M. We drove all night. Ella was worse yesterday and they all got scared and wired Martin and he called me and told me if I could come up he would have his car ready to go. I got into Coldwater about 9:20 and we left in just about 5 minutes. It is 288 miles from Coldwater to Manhattan.

Ella is better today. In fact I think possibly yesterday was the turning point. She seems to be getting all right today. I was up and stayed awhile with her while Sarah was getting a rest.

I don't know just when we will go home but I am going to try and get them to go home at least Sunday. If Ella gets better would like to see Oklahoma beat Manhattan Saturday. Manhattan sure expects to beat Oklahoma though.

Emily didn't come over but will tomorrow night. Lewis stayed down at Martin's and is looking after things for him. Martha came with us.

I hope you are feeling better and that the kids don't keep up the continuous worry of you. I think that I must surely be the signal for a display. I don't know why but if I knew they caused you as much trouble when I am away as when I am there I know that school days would be over at Norman.

I hope Bonnie is enjoying the visit. I had supper with Burrel and Jo last night and asked Jo to call you after 8:30 P.M. I guess she did. Her dad and Mother is there. I will write you again tomorrow. Love to your deal self and all.

Your Boy
